Wendy Lady's style can be described as a jab at modern popular culture, with the sex appeal of Betty Page along with her own brand of hilarity. Her keen eye observes the icons of a child of the 80s and 90s and presents her work appropriately to a generation that is having kids and having lots of practice at what it takes to make kids. She recognizes that Graphic Design and Marketing is no longer a bunch of stuffy shirts who sit in a room perplexed at what it is that makes kids, young teens and even adults tick. The ones who are being hired today to influence the world are those who have Peter Pan complexes and never grew up. This is where the idea of her nickname, Wendy Lady, came from. Her mission is this...to mother those Lost Boys who never grew up. |
Wendy was raised in the small navy town, Bremerton, WA since the age of three and resides there today. Full of intrigue and magic, she wanted to be an artist since about the age of 9 when she took Monart classes at school. This interest in art continued on into her teenage years when she interned at The Bremerton Sun Newspaper during the Summer of 1995. Of all the departments that she was visiting, Graphic Design was the most interesting. That stuck with her all through High School as she learned to paint with Acrylics and was often found spending countless hours getting intricate details into her art assignments. One teacher commented on her work, Excellent A+, Very Meticulous. Highschool would be where she would learn more about the world of computers.
This attitude towards art and design continued into her college career as well. Not content with the work load that college would bring, she spent her own time studying and applying additional learning material in art and graphic design, especially with the software program, Photoshop. She would then become Founder and President of a very influential group at Olympic College, The Associated Students of Photoshop. Organizing this group allowed her to attend the March 2004 Photoshop World Conference in San Francisco, CA where she would gather new information for the expanding Integrated Multimedia Department at Olympic College.
After receiving her Associates in Technical Arts at Olympic College, graduating with honors, a Leadership Scholarship and an Award of Excellence in Integrated Multimedia, she would continue on to Henry Cogswell College for Digital Arts where she attended classes for a year before her move into the Graphic Design world. She now Freelances Design Work to the community including playing Arts Coordinator for several First Friday Artswalk in Downtown Bremerton's Art District. She continues to paint and brainstorm her ideas onto canvas, paper, wood and computer. |
